1. Lake Hamana (浜名湖)

3. Hamamatsu Castle (浜松城)
1) Tokugawa Ieyasu and the Castle of Success
- A Center of History: This is the castle where Tokugawa Ieyasu, the famous shogun who eventually unified Japan, spent about 17 years during his youth.
- A Symbol of Success: Not only Tokugawa Ieyasu but also many subsequent lords of this castle later rose to high-ranking government positions. For this reason, the castle is widely nicknamed 'the Castle of Success' in Japan.
2) Castle Structure and Historical Value
- Unique Stone Walls: The stone walls supporting the castle were built using a technique called Nozurazumi, where natural, un-cut stones are roughly stacked together. Although rugged in appearance, they hold immense historical value, having stood strong without collapsing for over 400 years.
- Main Keep (Tenshukaku) Observatory: Inside the main keep, you can view various historical artifacts, including samurai armor and weapons used during that era. Climbing to the top observatory deck rewards you with a panoramic view of downtown Hamamatsu stretching all the way to Lake Hamana.
