1) Whether to visit Shirakawago
- If not visiting: Skip Takayama as well and focus on Nagoya city sightseeing.

2) Whether to use a bus tour
- Bus tour: A great way to visit Takayama and Shirakawago in one day.
- Independent travel: If you want a more relaxed trip, stay 1 or 2 nights in Shirakawago, Takayama, or Gero Onsen.
3) Whether to visit Ise Grand Shrine
- If you are interested in Japanese mythology, add a day trip to Ise Grand Shrine. Otherwise, spend more time on Nagoya city sightseeing.

1) If you do not visit Shirakawago
If you skip Shirakawago, plan your entire trip around Nagoya city sightseeing. You can also add a day at Ghibli Park or a day trip to Ise Grand Shrine.

2) If you use a Shirakawago bus tour
Set one full day for the bus tour, and use the rest of the days for Nagoya sightseeing. You only need to decide whether to include Ise Grand Shrine to complete your plan.

3) If you travel independently without a bus tour
In this case, it is best to go directly to Takayama on the first day and stay overnight. On the next day, visit Shirakawago and Takayama together. Then stay at a ryokan in Takayama or Gero Onsen, and finish the trip with Nagoya city sightseeing.

You can also plan your trip like the route below, with a final night at Gero Onsen to relax before departure.
